Our first Draft meetup, hosted by our friends at Park City Brewery, was a success! We had three great speakers lined up, and there was plenty of time for mingling afterward.
Alisha Niswander from Mountain Vista Tours discussed her start-up story as well as her vision for what we need to do to be more inclusive in the cycling and outdoor industry. Tyler Cloward from Fezzari Bikes discussed Fezzari’s unique B2C business model as well as their focus on the customer. Ben Rifkin from Royal Street Investments talked us through how businesses evolve and how to position yourself to be ready for change.
We are looking to host our next Draft event in early November. Stay tuned for details.
What is Draft?
Draft is a series of meetups that are modeled after the events PeopleForBikes hosts in the Denver area. These Denver events, going on for over two years now, regularly draw crowds between 3-400 people during their bi-monthly meetups. The format is simple, 3-4 speakers each present on a topic of their choice for 5-minutes followed by a 5-minute Q&A. These quick sessions are designed to get your mind thinking and to encourage discussion after the formalities are over.
Who is Draft for?
Draft is a networking event focused on the cycling industry. Although anyone is welcome to attend a Draft event, it is geared towards entrepreneurs and cycling industry employees. Our aim is to bring the Utah cycling industry together so we can work together towards common goals, much like drafting in road cycling.
What is PeopleForBikes?
PeopleForBikes is a non-profit organization based out of Colorado. They believe we are stronger together as an industry and as a voice. Through sharing of issues, investment in cycling infrastructure, and the gathering of like-minded individuals at events like Draft, PeopleForBikes aims to make riding better for everyone.
