With the new Google and Yahoo changes coming around the corner, we have created a video and a PDF guide that walks you through the setup of the Dedicated Sending Domain within Klaviyo. You’ll still need to know your way around your DNS Provider (GoDaddy, Google Domains/Squarespace, Shopify Domains,…).
Need some additional help? Or want us to run your domain through a spam test? Let us know.
Steps for Setting Up A Klaviyo Dedicated Sending Domain
- Log into your Klaviyo account. Go to settings —> Email -> Domains. You’ll see an “Add” button next to the Branded Sending domain section, click that.
- From here, you’ll be asked some basic questions about the domain. Just make sure that the root domain you’re setting up matches the root domain of the email your newsletters are coming from. You likely won’t need to change any other settings here.
- Select the domain provider to get the DNS records that need to be changed. This includes 4 NS record and 1 TXT record. Although, there is a second TXT record you should add too, your DMARC policy.
- Log into your domain provider and add the records from step #3.
- Also add a TXT record with this info, host name: _dmarc, value: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@domain.com. Make sure you change the mail to address to the address you want any reports sent too. This tells your domain provider to email you if someone is trying to use your domain to send potentially fraudulent emails. If this happens, reach out to use and we can help. It might be worth changing the p= value to something else.
- Lastly, verify the setup is correct within Klaviyo. This should happen within 24 hours.
- To double check everything, we run our clients through SPAM and deliverability testing using Litmus. We will do this 48 hours after the domain is setup to ensure it is all working properly, including the DMARC policy.
